An Analysis of People of the Levants’ Interest in Umayyads; Factors and Consequences

Many of the people of the Levant have long been interested in the Umayyads dynasty. This interest started from the time of Mu'awiyah. By taking special measures, the Umayyads were able to attract the attention of people of the Levant and make them obedient and devoted. Above all, the Umayyads influenced people of the Levant by propaganda, the result of which was nothing but "ignorance." In fact, the element of ignorance, along with the use of psychological, social, economic and political factors, was the main factor in attracting people of the Levant. The result was the obedience of people of the Levant to the Umayyads which has consequences such as obedience, selfsacrifice for the Umayyads, attempts to establish and expand the Umayyad government, hatred and enmity towards the Prophet's family, and finally establishment of Umayyad Islam.
