Relationship between spiritual intelligence and emotion regulation and anxiety in midwifery students
This study aimed to determine the relationship between spiritual intelligence and emotion regulation and anxiety in midwifery students.
The study design was descriptive correlational type and statistic population of study included all Bachler and Master level midwifery students of Islamic Azad University Medical Branch of Tehran with the quantity of 538 subject in second semester of 2015-2016 which through them 110 subjects were selected by available sampling. Study tools were included emotion regulation difficulties scale by Gratz & Roemer (2004), spiritual intelligence inventory by AbdolahZadeh, Keshmiri & Arab Ameri (1999) and state trait anxiety inventory by spielberger (1970). Data using Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression were analyzed.
The results showed an increase in spiritual intelligence, on average (correlation “between” 0.3 to 0.5), increase the ability of the individual acceptance of emotional responses, impulse control, emotional awareness, access to emotion regulation strategies and emotional clarity. More Spiritual Intelligence provides decrease in individual anxiety.
Understand and connect with the source (0.432) and spiritual life and relying on the core (0.197), variables respectively (expressed absolute value beta) have unique contribution in explaining emotion regulation variable when other variables explaining variance are controlled. Understand and connect with the source (0.303) and spiritual life and relying on the core (0.299), variables respectively (expressed absolute value beta) have unique contribution in explaining anxiety variable when other variables explaining variance are controlled.
