The effectiveness of music therapy on practical intelligence and creativity of children aged 5 to 7 in Tehran

The aim of this study is the effectiveness of music therapy on practical intelligence and creativity of children aged 5-7 years in Tehran in 1399. The present study is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design with a control group. The statistical population of the study was all children aged 5 to 7 years in District 5 of Tehran. 30 children aged 5 to 7 years were selected by simple random sampling and randomly assigned to the experimental group (15 people) and the control group (15 people). The experimental group underwent 10 sessions of 45 minutes of music therapy and the control group waited for treatment during this period. The childrenchr('39')s Wechsler test (WPPSI-R) and Torrance Creativity Questionnaire (1990) were used to measure practical intelligence in children. The analysis of information obtained from the implementation of questionnaires through SPSS20 software was performed in two descriptive and inferential sections (analysis of covariance). The data obtained by analysis of covariance showed a significant difference between the mean scores of practical intelligence and creativity in the experimental and control groups and music therapy increased practical intelligence (α = 0.05) and creativity (α = .01) children 5 to 7 have a significant impact. Due to the effectiveness of music therapy in intelligence and creativity, it is necessary to design extensive programs aimed at promoting the ability of creativity and intelligence of children, the content of which is based on music education.
