Evaluating Students’ Satisfaction in Regard with Clinical Training at Shahid Sadoughi Dentistry School of Yazd in 2014
University as an institution promotes knowledge and supplies specialist manpower in the community, which is obliged to continually assess its current status to achieve practical solutions in order to improve the quality of education. Therefore, the present study aimed to assess studentschr('39') satisfaction from clinical education status in the dentistry School of Yazd.
In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 205 questionnaires were completed by dental graduate students who were passing the first and second rotation in the clinical wards. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were confirmed. The collected data were analyzed via ANOVA and T-Test applying SPSS software (ver, 17).
In this study, 83 males (40.5%) and 122 females (59.5 %) participated. Students’ satisfaction score from clinical education of college was 3.04±0.96, which was reported as moderate. The most satisfaction belonged to Pediatrics ward(3.7±0.6) and the lowest satisfaction was devoted to the orthodontics ward (2.9±1.01). Moreover, a significant relationship was observed between students’ satisfaction rate and their education term (P=0.046), though no significant relationship was reported between satisfaction rate and gender (P=0.088) as well as marital status (P=0.108).
The present study findings revealed that students’ satisfaction from clinical education was moderate in all sectors with a low fluctuation. Hence, providing the necessary facilities, promoting university instructors and attempting to attract the patient seem to be necessitated in order to improve the status of clinical education which should be specifically taken into consideration by the educational planners.
