Matching Non- Formal Technical and Vocational Training and Labor Market Needs from Skill Graduates and Industrial Managers’ Point of View (Case Study: Welding Skill, Shahryar TVT Center)
Studying the employability of welding skill trainees graduated from Shahryar Technical and Vocational Training (TVT) Center, Tehran, Iran, this paper aimed to survey the match of provided training to trainees and labor market needs. And the research investigated the employers and industrial managers views about the adequacy of employability of provided training. In other words, the paper aimed to determine to what extent industrial and manufacture employers and managers consider that provided training to trainees were sufficient to do the job tasks. Sampling methods used in this study were simple random sampling method by using Morgan’ table for skilled trainees (N= 80) of the TVT center and the other for industry leaders (N=40), due to the limited number of population is poll method (census). Data analysis was done by using descriptive and inferential statistics via Excel and SPSS software. The results showed that the provided training affect positively Trainees’ job placement and skill development, but it is required to attempt more to align and match the needs with programs and facilities to keep pace with technological advances. Also, the industry executives and managers evaluated positively the TVT quality offered to the skill trainees in order to enable them for performing their job tasks, Their major grievance was in the field that the training is not updated regarding to industry needs.
