An Analysis of the Relationship Between the Historic Bazaar of Tabriz and the Rhizome as an Organ of Vegetative Reproduction
Investigating the variables extracted from nature in bionic, biomimetic, biophilic, genomic and organic approaches which can help solve important problems in modern architecture and design by taking inspiration from the growth processes of living organisms; making use of nature in abstract terms; adopting the meanings, rules and mechanisms of nature; and paying attention to the popularity of architecture, comfort and peace, active engagement with environment, respect for nature and alignment with environmental attitudes. In the past, all of these items used to be formed based on the culture and traditions native to each region but in contemporary architecture, a lot of them have been forgotten.
In terms of purpose, it is a developmental research that has been researched by descriptive-analytical method and the analyzes performed are for qualitative conclusions. The purpose of this research is to answer this question: “What are the analytical dimensions between the bazaar of Tabriz and Rhizomatic organisms in nature-based creation?”
Historic bazaars in Iran can be called live-bazaar (Zendeh Bazaar) as they seem to be shaped like a living creature, adapted to nature and the needs of the period. The present paper is a qualitative study and uses historical interpretation as its method of analysis. According to the results, there are four analytical dimensions to nature-based creation including form, structure, meaning and nature.
The results of analysis indicated a high level of similarity between the historic bazaar of Tabriz and the rhizome as an organ of vegetative reproduction in terms of “the relationship between structural networks”, “hierarchies of importance and centrality”, “the form and path of expansion”, “form, diameter, dimension and color”, “identity and meaning”, “presence, respect and life in nature” and so on.
