The Relationship between Thinking Styles and Academic Adjustment among the Students of Islamic Azad University-Khoy Branch
The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between thinking styles and academic adjustment. The participants of the study were 581 students in Islamic Azad University, Khoy branch (including 298 males, 277 females, and 4 no response). The sampling method was stratified random sampling. Two standardized questionnaires were used for data collection: Thinking Styles Inventory–Revised II (TSI-R2-2007) and Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ-1989). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation test and multiple regression. The results showed that (1) there is a positive and significant relationship between academic adjustment and Executive, Judicial, Local, Liberal, Hierarchical and External thinking styles; (2) The variables age, Judicial, Liberal, Hierarchical thinking styles have significant predictive value for academic adjustment while the variables of sex, Legislative, Oligarchic and Anarchic thinking styles have negative predictive value for academic adjustment. Nearly 19 percent of the variance of academic adjustment could be explained by the independent variables.
