Strategic evaluation of the spatial structure of cities with emphasis on new patterns of urban planning (Case study: Yasuj city)

Abstract:

The main purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the development drivers and to develop the optimal development scenarios as well in Yasuj city based on future research and scenario writing approach. The present research method is of qualitative / quantitative strategic analysis type and is in accordance with the structural and quasi-mathematical approach and multiple choice of topics and methodologies of foresight and scenario. The size of the statistical population of the present study are all experts and proficients who are fully acquainted with subject of the regional development, urban development, urban planning and future research approach, and scenario writing. Also, sampling method, purposive sampling and statistical sampling, 30 experts and proficients, university professors, executive directors of the province and PhD students related to the regional development, urban development, urban planning and future research and scenario writing, were selected as samples. The main method of data and information collection is the brainstorming method. The main tools for data and information analyse and the research information is the Micmac future research software, based on analysis of cross-sectional effects and Morphol scenario software according to the inertial morphological model. The results show that the desired and purposeful development of Yasuj city is based on dimensions and components of 17 key drivers (employment(95/0), decision-making power at the national level(89/0), land exchange(70/0), good governance(70/0), share of the private sector in the economy(65/0), water management(70/0), transportation(67/0), smart urban management(52/0), sustainable rural employment(53/0), handicrafts(46/0), social tolerance(89/0), ethnic and tribal management(47/0), citizenship culture(37/0), agricultural production(37/0), tourism attractions(30/0), medicinal plants (45/0)and spatial structure of activities(45/0). Also, the results of the analysis and planning of the baseline scenario show that the heart and the central core, as well as the development structure of Yasuj city, are based on the tourism strategy(48/0).
