Abstract:
The present article seeks to examine Burger's views on secularism and post- secularism. In this regard, first we examine his theoretical basis, and then discusse secularism and post- secularis from his point of view. Based on an epistemological approach, Burger views religion as a social construct; Also, he by adopting an intrinsic approach to defining religion considere secularism as a decline of religion in modern age, which has spread throughout the world. However, he undergone a theoretical transformation and changes its view that modernity does not inherently lead to the secularism. Because of this, today religion is returning to societies, and we are witnessing the decline of secularism, not the decline of religion, which It has been interpreted in the article as the emergence of "post-socialism." Theoretical achievements of this paper show that although in the post-secular age there is evidence of reemergence of religion but this tendency towards religion is not seen in European societies and among the educated stratum of the humanities. In addition, the returnee has experienced changes and moved towards the non-institutionalization.
