The Study of the Role of Trust in Developing Public Safety (Case Study: The Youth of East Azarbaijan Province Aged 19-25)

Abstract:

Feeling public safety is considered as one of the critical and important concepts in social life dynamics and its persistency. This paper intends to determine the role of trust in the police by examining the level of the sense of public safety. The method of research was survey and the measuring tools were closed questionnaire. The population included youth of East Azerbaijan province aged 15-29, 410 people were selected Cochran formula through stratified random sampling. Having collected the questionnaires the data were analyzed by SPSS software. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis. Based on the results of the research there is average sense of public safety and trust in police. In current study, the result showed that there were average and significant correlation between trust in police and public safety. Furthermore, the result of multiple regression analysis showed that 18.5% of the variation of public safety explained by trust in police.
