A study of urban graphics with social and economic issues and its impact on political indifference of citizens

States and societies constantly strive to take advantage of the maximum political participation of their citizens. As the other side of the coin of political participation, political indifference can weaken or even halt the national development process. The present study hence aimed to investigate the Impact of Urban Graphics on Social and Economic Issues and Its Impact on Citizens' Political Indifference, Khuzestan Province, Iran, in 2019.This was an applied descriptive-correlational study. The statistical population consisted of all citizens of Ahvaz aged over 18 years (N=800,000), 385 of whom were selected as the sample based on the Cochran formula and random sampling. The data were collected through an author-made questionnaire whose validity was confirmed by professors (face validity) and its reliability was assessed by Cronbach’s alpha (0.84). The data were statistically analyzed by correlation coefficient and multiple regression tests in SPSS. The results showed that political indifference had a significant relationship with gender, religiosity (doctrinal, consequential, ritual, emotional, and empirical), tendency for national identity, social trust, sense of social justice, and satisfaction with the quality of life. However, such a relationship was not found between political indifference and age. The regression results indicated that the studied variables altogether managed to explain 0.38 (R2=0.38) of the variance of political indifference.
