Assess the Chinese government's politico-security considerations for Xinjiang Muslims

Xinjiang Muslims can be considered one of the most important considerations of the Chinese government's internal security, which has also affected the country's foreign and security policy. Although this issue is influenced by the social identity of the Muslims in the region and the Chinese government's policy of "assimilation and integration", the security and political priority of this issue in China is not only affected by its internal conditions but also by regional conditions. International also plays a prominent role in prioritizing it. In this regard, the situation in the Central Asian region after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 has had a direct impact on China's security priorities in the Xinjiang region. In fact, although Beijing was the second emerging power after Moscow to put the full development of its relations with these newly independent republics primarily on the political and security fronts and secondarily on economic and cultural issues. But at the same time, it was affected by the internal challenges and harms of these countries. The findings of this descriptive-analytical study show the proximity of Xinjiang region and the identity and cultural closeness of its inhabitants with the Central Asian tribes, separatist movements, religious extremism, terrorism and drug trafficking in the field of sensitivity and Beijing has been strict about the political and security issues of the region and its Muslims.
