The Role of Religious Beliefs and the Level of Moral Intelligence in Predicting the Mental Health of Mohaghegh Ardabili University Students
The present study is conducted with the aim of investigating the role of religious beliefs and the level of moral intelligence in predicting the mental health of students of Mohaghegh Ardabili University.
The method of the present research was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-correlational in terms of nature. The statistical population of this study included all students of Mohaghegh Ardabili University in the academic year of 2019. From this population, a sample of 319 students was selected by random cluster sampling method and they answered the questionnaire of religious beliefs, moral intelligence and general health. The data were also analyzed by Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression tests.
The results of the correlation coefficient show that mental health has a positive and significant relationship with religious beliefs and religious, emotional and ritual components. In addition, mental health has a positive and significant relationship with the total score of moral intelligence and its components (p < 0.01). The results of the regression analysis also showed that the predictor variables predict about 18% of the variance of mental health.
According to the results of the present study, it is recommended to hold educational workshops by psychologists and counselors in order to improve the moral intelligence and religious beliefs of students.
