The lived experiences of farhangian university students from living in a student dormitory

Dormitory and student life all over the world have both good and bad experiences for all students. People who choose a university far from their city to study, the majority choose a dormitory to live during their studies; Because the dormitory is installed by the university itself and it is generally more convenient for students, because they also consider facilities for students. Farhangian University is no exception to this. Farhangian University has campuses and centers, and there are a limited number of these campuses and centers in each province; Therefore, student teachers from all over a province study in a few specific cities and need a place to live, and they often choose a dormitory for living at the suggestion of the university itself. The purpose of this research is to investigate the lived experience of Farhangian University student teachers from living in a student dormitory. For this purpose, qualitative approach and descriptive phenomenological method were used. The statistical population of this research was the student teachers of the two majors of elementary education and physical education of Farhangian University of West Azarbaijan province (Shahid Motahari Khoi Center), from this population, with the purposeful sampling method, among the student teachers entering October and February 2017, the highest attendance rate in They have the dormitory, the sample was selected. The necessary information was obtained using a semi-structured interview. The duration of each interview varied from 45 minutes to 1 hour and after 12 interviews; Information saturation was achieved. After conducting the interviews and coding and analyzing them using nvivo software, the student teachers\' experience of living in the student dormitory was divided into 4 main themes including: expectations and facilities, environmental health, interaction and communication, quality of education and 18 sub-themes. The results of the survey show that the dormitory of Farhangian University has deficiencies such as the lack of study rooms, the high number of people living in one room, inappropriate food and some other deficiencies, but in any case, there were opportunities for students to gain new experiences.
