The effect of participatory leadership on the realization of the preventive approach of neighborhood-oriented police with the mediating role of organizational knowledge

Realization of the neighborhood-oriented approach, especially in the field of crime prevention, requires a management style and requirements that make its implementation easy. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of participatory leadership on the realization of the preventive approach of neighborhood-oriented police with the mediating role of organizational knowledge.

The current research is applied and descriptive-analytical and correlational. The statistical population of the present study consists of the managers of the first level police stations of Greater Tehran, numbering 550 people, of which 225 people were selected as a statistical sample in a stratified and random manner. The data were collected through the standard questionnaire of participatory leadership and the researcher-made questionnaire in the field of neighborhood-oriented police and organizational knowledge in the five-point Likert spectrum. .

The findings of the research show that the percentage of changes in the preventive approach of the neighborhood-oriented police and the changes in organizational knowledge are predicted by the participation-seeking leadership. The effect of organizational knowledge on the implementation of neighborhood-based preventive police approach is positive and significant. On the other hand, the indirect effect of participatory leadership on the implementation of the preventive approach of neighborhood-oriented police was determined as a percentage.

In order to implement the preventive approach of neighborhood-oriented police, it is necessary to strengthen the indicators of participatory management style and organizational knowledge to executive managers and field workers.
