Investigating the origin, characteristics and distribution pattern of gypsies in Iran

Gypsies are itinerant people who are scattered all over the world and have a set of different customs in their culture. For this reason, knowing their origin and familiarity with their way of life is beneficial in terms of anthropological research. Their importance and influence is so much that many poets mentioned their beauty and characteristics in their works. This research, which is a type of qualitative study, tries to investigate the origin, distribution, characteristics and approximate number of Gypsies households - based on Ilam and Kermanshah provinces - in different parts of Iran using field and library methods. . Using semi-structured interview and snowball method, the author has interviewed forty natives and Gypsies of Ilam and Kermanshah provinces.of these migrations took place through Kabul, they were called Kabuli, and gradually such an adjective was used as a general nickname for other immigrants. . Most of the gypsy men are tall and dark-skinned, who have tattoos on their hands and arms, and some of them work in jobs such as circumcision, shoemaking, blacksmithing, singing, making musical instruments and wooden tools; Some of their women, with green skin and tattoos on their chins and wrists, tend to beg and prostitute themselves.
