Predicting the rate of postpartum depression based on coping strategies and attachment style in nulliparous women

The aim of this study was to predict the rate of postpartum depression based on coping strategies and attachment style in nulliparous women in Rasht. In this descriptive-correlational study, the statistical population included all nulliparous women referring to health centers in Rasht in the period of April to June 1400 that 284 people were selected by cluster random sampling as a statistical sample.‏Data collection tools used were: Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Inventory (1987), Stress Coping Styles Questionnaire and Collins and Reed Questionnaire (1990). Research data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple regression. The results showed that emotion-oriented coping strategies and avoidance and anxiety attachment styles have a positive and significant relationship with postpartum depression and there is a significant negative relationship between problem-oriented coping strategies and secure attachment style with postpartum depression. has it.‏The results also showed that secure attachment style, emotion-oriented coping strategy, anxiety attachment style, problem-oriented coping strategy can be a good predictor of postpartum depression. Also, secure attachment style variable has the most effect.
