Abstract:
Purpose

The purpose of this study is to identify the status of effective components of citizenship education in the direction of cultural and social development of citizens.

Materials and Methods

The mixed research method was considered (qualitative - quantitative). The statistical population in the qualitative section includes 40 key informants, experts and managers of urban management and in the quantitative section all young people between 18 to 25 years old in Tehran. Was considered. To select the samples in the qualitative section, the chain sampling method or snowball in identifying and selecting key informants and in the quantitative section 384 people using the stratified random sampling method was used. In order to collect the required information, a researcher-made questionnaire evaluating case factors Attention was paid to citizenship education and their role on the socio-cultural development of citizens. The construct validity was confirmed using factor analysis and its reliability was confirmed using Cronbachchr('39')s alpha. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS software version 22 with descriptive and inferential statistical methods.

Findings

The research findings using factor analysis test showed that attention to strengthening the rule of law, attention to strengthening the spirit of participation, attention to strengthening the sense of responsibility, attention to strengthening confidence, attention to strengthening communication skills, attention to strengthening Civic awareness and attention to strengthening problem-solving skills are among the influential factors in citizenship education for cultural and social development of citizens. Also, using one-group t-test, it was determined that the 7 mentioned components in citizenship education for cultural and social development Citizens are in a good position.

Conclusion

The results of one-sample t-test showed that the response of young people between 18 and 25 years old in Tehran to the current situation of the effective components of citizenship education for cultural and social development of citizens is statistically different from the average community. Considering the amount of averages calculated in these 7 factors and they are larger than the average of the community (3), the results showed that for young people between 18 and 25 years old in Tehran, the 7 mentioned components in citizenship education for cultural development and The social status of the citizens is in a favorable condition.
