Investigating the Relationship between Self-Efficacy Components of Teenagers and Intention to High – Risk Behavior
Given the importance of childhood and teen’s vulnerability in tension prone situations which causing stress, this study attempts to investigate the relationship between self-efficacy components (social assertiveness, performance in social positions, participating in social groups, friendship and intimacy and helping or receiving the help) and teen’s intension to high risk behaviors. Therefore, 287 secondary school students were selected through random sampling method and they answered the risky behavior and social self-efficacy questionnaire. Results of multivariate linear regression analyzes indicated that teen’s self-efficacy component(social assertiveness, performance in social positions, participating in social groups, friendship and intimacy and helping or receiving the help) are powerful predictor of teenager risk behaviors. Determination coefficient value (14%) indicates the volume of influences of perceived self-efficacy components on teenager’s intention to high risk behaviors. The results of this research can be used fully to counselors, family and teenager affairs planners.
