Author(s):
Abstract:
In his Exegesis (Tafsir), Surabadi, an exegete of the fifth century A.H. (anno Hejirae) cites the story of Soloman and his conversing with the birds, a story based on the theme of fate.As a subplot the outher deals with the love story of the king of west’s son and his beloved, the king of East’s daughter, who deceive Angha-the girl’s nanny-by means of a hollow horse and win each other’s hand in marriage.Likewise in Homer’s Ilyad (700 B.C.), the Greek army, harassed by the resistance of the Trojans, build a hollow wooden horse withen which some Greek heroes hide and pass though the gates of troy unnoticed. In the dark of night they open the gates to their fellow warriors and occupy.In this study, regarding the one-hundred-year reign of Alexander of Macedonia and the Selucids over Iran (Persia), the author attempts to reveal the secret of the similarity of the two stories through an analysies of chronological relationships (associations) of Persian, Greek and Roman literature.
