Superstitions in Sourabadi Commentary

Author(s):
Abstract:
A critical review of Sourabadi commentary on Quran or the commentary written by Atiq Neishabouri opens a door to early sources of superstition and introduces style of pioneers in mixing superstitions with the new culture of Islam.The study of the most important points in Quran will reveal that the holy book of Muslims abounds with moral recommendations about human conduct, as well as recounting of the lives of prophets and fates of insubordinate peoples in addition to efforts made by Almighty God to invite nonbelievers to Islam. Therefore, the question is what has been the source of stories about Muslims resorting to the sword to propagate their fate? It is impossible to review all the texts that have claimed that Muslims propagated their faith through force and use of sword, but it is possible to review the main sources of those absurd claims, which are limited to two books: Quran commentary written by Atiq Neishabouri, known has Sourabadi Commentary; and Tabari’s history book, which is attributed to Balami.
