Designing and Constructing Parents Harsh Discipline Scale

Abstract:
Parents’ harsh discipline is considered as cause of changes in personality components. Researches finding have shown significant correlation between children panic disorder and generaly child hood symptomology. A cross sectional study, information is obtained by self–completed questionaries in male pupil middle three of four educational authorized zones of Ahvaz city. In this study Parents Harsh Discipline Scale (PHDS) has been constructed and its reliability and content and construction validiation has been tested. Findings has shown significant correlation between PHDS and Coopersmith self – esteem scale, Generalized self – efficacy scale, Spiel Berger anxiety, external–internal locus of control scale. Content validiation were assessed by correlation between two expert rankings of PHDS Items, wich has been significant. Reliability of PHDS was measured with split–half and Alpha methods. Findings have shown that PHDS reliability is considerably high. This scale has been designed to measure parents harsh discipline based on children viewpoints to parents functions in rearing practices.
