Reducing Pirit Sulfur of Tabas Coal with Ferric Chloride Solution

Abstract:

Desulfurization of washed Parvadeh Tabas Coal by using Ferric chloride has been investigated, at different operating conditions such as; Concentration of Ferric chloride, particle size, temperature, acidity and residence time. The results show that, this method is capable of reducing only Pirit sulfur, in the range 25.48% to 90.5% (w/w), and total sulfur from 16.61% to 60% (w/w). This method shows no side effect on coke number and structure of the coal.
