Magus and the People of the Book in Islamic Resources and Documents

Although the word “magus” has been just used once in the Holy Quran, it has had special effects on the filed of Islamic regulations and obligations. Undoubtedly, the word “magus” refers to Zoroastrians but discussing on whether they are involved in the category of the people of the book or not reveals an important issue in Islamic culture, since being included in this category entails remarkable obligatory consequences. Studies show that despite some efforts which have tried to introduce and label Zoroastrians as a kind of idolatress and non-divine religion, Islamic resources encounter no problem in recognizing them in the group of the people of the book.
