A Comparison of relative exhaustivity among three Persian language databases (Magiran, SID, Iranmedex) for retrieving information in the field of Dentistry.

The rate of published articles in Medicine, such as other fields, has considerably increased. So it necessitates evaluating the capabilities of databases in indexing medical journals. Searching and retrieving Persian medical articles was carried out via Magiran, Iranmedex and Scientific Information Database (SID). As Precision and recall are used for evaluating search engines, this study considered the relative recall of aforementioned databases in dentistry. For this, we selected 29 keywords in dentistry and searched them in the 3 mentioned databases. Results showed that Iranmedex has the highest recall (0.72) and Magiran’s recall is higher than Sid’s.
