U.S. Operations in Iraq and Their Impact on Iran

Iraq's occupation by the U.S. in 2003 led to important developments influencing Iraq in particular and the entire Middle East in general. One should not forget that the failure of U.S. military strategy in Iraq was the result of inadequate knowledge about complex social and political realities of Iraq. In fact, the most important lesson the U.S. learned from this war is that conquering a weak country is possible by superior military power, but its occupation over a long period is impossible.
