A Survey on Behavioral Habits about Urinary Tract Infection Among Female Students of Nursing and Midwifery Faculty of Hamadan

Introduction &
Objective
Urinary tract infection is one of the most common reasons a among people who refer to doctors. This disease involves women more than men. In such a way that one woman among five suffers from it during her life. The main aim of this research was to determine the behavioral habits of female students in faculty of nursing and midwifery of Hamadan city, 2006.
Materials and Methods
This was descriptive cross sectional study on 133 female freshmen and seniors of nursing and midwifery. Data were gathered through questionnaire.The information was analyzed using SPSS/10.
Results
Results suggested that the majority of the participants are between the ages of 20-25 single and live in dormitory. They often consumed the most percentage of dairy foods, fish, egg, chocolate, vegetables and fruit and always use rice, bread and nuts. The most percentage 45.9% of units drinks less in cold weather and 39% very much in hot weather. Most of them 32.3% dont drink strong tea very much, and 71.4% drink Juice less. But 74.4% drink soda very much.Considering activity, most of the units 31.6% were not active, and 29.3%had daily actives and 60.9% used transportation Vehicles and 40.6% did not exercise.Majority of them 85% uses W.C just when they feel they wanted to urinate and 92.5% evacuate their bladders before bed. 97% take a shower and 82% dry their urogenital organs, and 92.5% wash themselves during menstruation.Generally the statistical experiments showed that the majority of the units had improper habits regarding nutrition, using liquids and daily activities, but proper ones regarding urogenital hygiene.
Conclusion
As the results showed, although the nursing and midwifery students are responsible for training hygienic and preventing the disease, they dont have proper behavior in this regard, so first they themselves should be trained in order to promote them to others.
