Abstract:

Seedstorageproteinswerestudied by using SDS-PAGE in 14 populations of twoAlhagi species, namelyA. graecorumBoiss. And A. pseudalhagi(M. B.) Desv. In total 11 protein bands wereobtainedamongwhich, bands 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9 and 10 werecommon in all the taxa studiedwhile band 3 isspecific in Mehran population of A. graecorum. Cluster analysis of protein data revealedthatsuch data may not beuseful in differentiating the twoAlhagi species, howevertheycanbeused in revealing the inter-population variation.
