Abstract:
To explore the relation between children's self-concept and parenting style of their parents, a sample of 150 fifth graders was selected in Sheeraaz and two measures were administered to them. The two instruments were questionnaires on self-concept and family environment. Data show that where there is a warm and supporting family environment children's self-concept is high and positive. Overall, boys scored higher than girls in self-concept and this significant difference is only due to the boy's academic self-concept. It was also found that the respondents value their parent's views more than those of their parents and peers.
