An Archaeological Study of Bronze Era Graves in Packal and Chenarbashi Vallies in First Millennium BC

Message:
Abstract:
The first and second millennia BC were the hay days of bronze era in the western part of Zagros especially Saymarreh valley and the plains of Kabir Kooh Mount. Archaeological research shows that immigrant nations had already come there and used the region's natural resources. Kasi or Kasit was one of such nations. Some archaeologists studied the distribution of cultural works discovered in the region belonging to this period. In 1960s, scientific attempts of archaeology groups especially a Belgian group had demonstrated some important findings about the culture of bronze period in this region. Although some archeologists like Smith, Stein, Frank Hool and….had carried out similar studies in the western region of Zagros, the Belgian group attempts by professor Luie Wanderberg stand out in this regard. This group found many graves related to this period and through excavation found many cultural remains belonging to the period. In this period, bronze culture quite flourished to the extent that many people set up their melting units and alloyed metals such as cooper and tin to make bronze instruments. This article is an attempt to present some of the findings of archaeological studies carried out in this region in recent years.
