Origin of Plants in Iranian Mythology

Abstract:
Myth is a set of narrations about ‘existence’ in a manner that the man of the ancient times has understood it. It seems to include eternal facts of permanent credit. Myth has different types and the most important type is the myth of creation that relates to the beginning of the story of existence. In the belief of ancient Iranians, the myth of creation is a highly systematic and targeted medium. Creation based on this myth, has roots in divinity and goodness and everything created is related to other parts of the universe. It is an inevitable fact which completes the mechanism aimed at fighting the evil and satanic creation. On this basis, the creation of plants is essential to complete the integrated divine system to combat the evil (Ahriman) and other ugly and harmful creatures. Plants should be praised and respected. Growing plants means spreading goodness and participating in Izad’s creation cycle to fight against evil.
