Minbar-i Ṣāḥib al-Zamān of Gawharshād Mosque

The minbar (pulpit) renowned as Ṣāḥib al-Zamān (Lord of Time) is located in Aivān-i Maqṣūra of Gawharshād Mosque. This fourteen-step pulpit is made of walnut and pear wood, without using any nails. This artistic work has no date of construction, but it is probably made simultaneous to the construction of the Mosque itself and the name of its constructor is Sultān Hasan b. Najjār Kirmānī. Since long ago, the Shī‘as have assumed that Ṣāḥib al-Zamān (Imam Mahdi – A.S.) will mount the pulpit when he reappears.
