The Effect of Play Therapy on Phobia in 5-11 Years Old Children Who Were Refered to Clinics of Isfahan Medical Sciences University

Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of play therapy on phobia in years old children in Isfahan. Therefore, children who were refered to Isfahan clinics (Children and Adolescent's Clinic of Isfahan Medical Sciences Univensity and Children Psychatric Clinic of Noor Hospital) were selected as a random cluster, that is, children who were diagnosed as phobic were selected, and randomly divided into experimental and control groups (subjects each). The experimental group received group play therapy in weekly sessions and the control group did not receive any intervention. The parent form of the sub-scales of phobia of the Child Abnormal Symptoms Inventory (CSI-) were administered to all subjects as the pre, post and follow up tests. The results of analysis covariance showed that the difference between the mean post test scores of phobia in the two groups was not signficant. But the the experimental group significantly scored less than the control group in the phobia follow-up test (P<).
