Effect of Lasalocid on Ruminal and Blood Metabolities and performance of Gizel Male Lambs

In order to determine of effect of lasalocid on rumen ecosystem and blood parameters of Ghizil male lambs، 16 male lambs (38±3. 5 kg) were used in completely randomized design. The experiment period was 60 days. The treatments containg 25، 30، 35 and 40 ppm of lasalocid. The average weight gain and feed intake were measured weekly. Rumen samples were obtained 2 h after feeding to determine of VFA، pH، floatation and reception time، methylen blue reduction time and protozoa population. The blood samples were obtained 2 h after feeding to determine glucose، ammonia nitrogen، calcium and phosphorus. The results showed that lasalocid levels had significant effect on ruminal VFA and ammonia nitrogen (P<0. 05)، but its effect on ruminal pH، floatation and reception time، methylen blue reduction time، blood glucose، blood urea، calcium and phosphorous wasn''t significant. The effect of lasalocid on average weight gain and feed intake wasn''t significant، but its effect on feed conversion ratio and protozoa population was significant (P<0. 05). It was concluded، that the lasalocid can increase ruminal protozoa population without any negative effects on ruminal and blood metabolites and with increasing protozoa population، resulting improvement on cellulose digestion.
