Iranian criminal justice responses to youth delinquencies

It is about 100 years that criminal policy makers, in the light of criminological – scientific instructions and human rights responses to youth delinquencies with differential attitude. This new attitude entered into the Iranian criminal policy through General Penal Code (1304) but the main changes in this respect were made when the bill of forming youth offender's court was enacted in 1338.In current Iranian criminal system, no one may see "child oriented" provisions, although nowadays, some kinds of changes have been done in this respect.This article examines the responses of Iranian traditional criminal justice system to youth delinquencies in various periods of legislation; First the rehabilitative attitude and then the punitive one.
