The Islamic Revolution and Historical Autarchy in Iran

Author(s):
Abstract:
Throughout the ancient history of Iran there have always been autarchic governments which, keeping in mind the interaction between the government and the people and mutual effects that they have on each other, led the moods of the people in a certain direction. One of the subjects of study for sociologists is Iranian individualism. Autarchic government and individualism interact with each other and strengthen each others effects and signs. On one side, the autarchic government strengthens individualism in the society and, keeping in mind its lawlessness, corruption spreads in the society. On another side, the spirit of individualism, inclined to being in a rut, considered the minimum amount of easily obtained needs. By invading other people’s rights, they created an unstable environment in the society destroying the existence of firm non-autarchic governments.
