Investigation of Effective Factors in Strategy Formulation of Air Transport

Abstract:
Low-cost airlines are considered as a huge revolutionary transformation in an air transportation industry over the last three decades. In this research, it is tried to find the most important factors which are effective on the strategy formulation (the first stage of strategic management Process) for Low Cost Air Transports, based on literature review and their experiences of 30-year operation. So, five factors have been considered as necessary factors in order to make a proper strategy include: "The Essence of Strategy", "Situational Analysis", "Market Analysis", "Business Model" and "Key Success Factors". A survey from KishAir Airline's (the only low cost air transport in Iran) managers had been collected. Based on One- Sample t-Test, all mentioned factors have a considerable effect on strategy formulation in low cost air transports. And the point is come up that all these factors not only are related but are also interacting with each other; considering that the "situation analysis" is an important priority than the other factors.
