Internal Evaluation: A Tool for Quality Assessment of University Departments Case Study: Internal Evaluation of the Urban Planning Department of Art University

Internal Evaluation is a method for quality assessment in the highereducation which is carried out through different factors, criteria andindicators. Internal Evaluation of the urban planning department ofArt University during the years 2006 1999 was done throughinvestigating the main influential factors on educational quality ofthe department including department mission and goals, managementand organizing, academic staff, students, teaching and learningprocesses, educational courses and programs, education and researchfacilities and research conditions. The results indicate that the qualityof the urban planning department is relatively desirable, but far fromthe ideal. In the end, some measures and actions have been proposedfor improving the department quality at different institutional levelssuch as department, faculty, university and ministry.
