Relationship between Job Satisfaction and Mental Health

Abstract:
The report investigates the relationship between job satisfaction and mental health involving its aspects (such as physical symptoms, anxiety, social disorders and depression) with job satisfaction in 5 scales (age, gender, educational back ground, marital status and accommodation) amongst male and female individuals employed in Garmsar Azad University. To achieve research purposes a sample that comprised 60 individuals (38 males and 22 females) was randomly selected among from a larger statistical population. Having received and responded to “Shafi Abadi and Shariat job satisfaction and GHQ 28 questionnaires” results which were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient test and one-way variation analysis indicate that job satisfaction and age are highly correlated to mental health; however, no relationship was observed between job satisfaction and other scales including gender, marital status educational background and accommodation; furthermore, no difference was perceived between males’ and females’ mental health. In conclusion research results confirmed a significant relationship between job satisfaction and mental health.
