Effectiveness of Stress Inoculation Training (SIT) and Assertive Training

Abstract:
The present study was carried out to examine the effectiveness of stress inoculation training and assertive training in job satisfaction and job burnout amongst the staff employed in Tonekabon Azad University; thus, the research method was a twogroup one conducted in 3 steps including pre-test, training and post-test. The instruments involved Dawis 20-item job satisfaction questionnaire and Lee and Ashforth 40-item job burnout questionnaire which were distributed and responded to by 200 members, out of which 60 individuals who had shown lower job satisfaction and higher burnout were selected and randomly grouped into three 20-member groups. First group (receiving assertive training), second group (provided with stress inoculation training) and third group (haven’t undergone any training). Results demonstrated that stress inoculation training and assertive training have increased job satisfaction and reduced females’ and males’ job burnout; what’s more, stress inoculation training proves more effective than assertive training. It’s worth mentioning that no difference was observed amongst males and females with regard to the increase of job satisfaction and decrease of job burnout.
