A survey on the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Effectiveness among academic staff in Islamic Azad university of Parsabad Moghan

Abstract:
This study investigated the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and effectiveness of the faculty members in Islamic Azad university of Parsabad Moghan (I.A.U. P.M). The correlation method was used to perform the research. The statistical population was all 45 faculty members and all 2045 students of I.A.U.P.M. in 1386-1387. By use of Morgan table and simple- random sampling method, 40 faculty members and 800 students were chosen as the sample population. Two standard questionnaires, Siberia Sharing test and researcher-designed effectiveness tool, were used for data gathering. The data were analyzed by means of Pearson correlation coefficient test and multiple regression analysis. The results indicated that there were significant relationships between indicators of emotional intelligence and effectiveness of faculty members. Self-motivation, empathy and social skills were suitable predicators for effectiveness of faculty members. The study suggested that the emotional intelligence educational courses might be used for promoting the effectiveness of faculty members.
