The Effectiveness of Text Schema on Reader's Comprehension

This study aims to compare the different types of expository texts and text schemataamong students majoring in psychology and education. The subjects, being selectedthrough stratified random sampling, included 300 students of Tehran stateuniversities. The study involves a two-way factorial design (3×4). The subjects wererandomly assigned into experimental groups. The instrumentation of the studyincludes texts, text comprehension questionnaire, and attitude questionnaire. Thecollected data were analyzed by applying a two-way ANOVA and a follow up test.The statistical analysis indicated that text schemata (explanation, description,analysis) would affect reading comprehension.
