Geotouristic Attractions role of fountains and correlation between them and geological formations North of Razavi, using GIS (case study: Kalat township Khorasan)

Geotourism is one of the most important branches of Tourism that studies geological Potentials and geomorphological landscapes of regions. There are some indicators for recognizing of geological Potential in order to explain and zoning of geotouristic phenomena. Some systematic methods in this field are as follow:, Spatial Analysis, of geological attractions using GPS»Georeference«oning in GIS and assessment of concentration of attractions in geological formations. In this paper spatial distribution of fountains in Kalat township has been considered as dot attractions with geotourism values. Kalat township is located in Hezar Masjed mountainous zone that has been covered by Jurassic limestone formations that have been floded. Correlation between spatial distribution of fountains and total annual debit using test of Pearson indicates strong correlation between them and geological formations. Zoning of fountains using GIS shows fountains occurance have the most concentration in Shooridje; Sanganeh; Tirgan and Mozdooran formations. Also the most annual debits of fountains are in Tirgan; Mozdooran; Shooridje and Abderaz formation perspectively. Results comparison and field observations showed the fountains and another geotouristic elements in the region are generally on lime stone deep layer formation such as Mozdooran and Tirgan formations. So the fountains and waterfalls occurred in this domain created important touristic sites such as Gharasoo; Orthocan; Zavin and soon.
