Messianism in Safavid Period

This paper concentrates on the study of social history of Iran under the Safavids, especially regarding important role of Messianism, Mahdism and soteriologic ideas. Importance of these subjects refer to that, idea of Mahdism became a mainstream current, whether through clerical approach, supported by official Shi’sm or the people’s claims being messiah. Authors will try to survey of Messianism, Mahdism and soteriology ideas within frame of Safavid intellectual, political and social life.
