The Position and Importance of Coins in Abbasid Da wa
In the last years of Abbasid Da’wa and on the eve of final victory over the Umayyads [132 A.H] they took measure minting coins with the design of some revolutionary mottoes with emphasis on their relation with the holy Prophet[p.b.u.h.& h.d] and mention of Quran Verse, no23,Shura auspicious Chapter. They also, in a coordinated and accurate measure, minted these coins the same as the coins of Abd Allah b. Mu’awiya, the other Shi’i revolutionary of that era. The main question in this study is: what were the motive of Abbasid leaders and the preachers from doing this dangerous and stimulating action? We might conclude - with reviewing sources and coin image available - that the main motive of Abbasids of such an action was to show universality of rising, and applying all methods and tools in their victory and transferring revolution into rule. Abbasids used these minted coins in small business and in this way disrupted weak economic course of the East (Khurasan). Besides, studying on the motives of Abbasid Da’wa leaders (Da’is), especially Abu Muslim of minting this kind of coins and their features, help us to comprehend many misty aspects of Abbasid Da’wa and its approach toward the parallel uprisings especially Abd Allah b.Mu’awiya’s one.
