Mobile GIS Technology for Emergency and Natural Disasters Management (Focused on Wildfire)

Intelligent mapping through analysis and data sharing is vital for disaster management. The analytical capabilities of GIS support all aspects of disaster management.Mobile GIS is the expansion of a geographic information system (GIS) from the office into the field. It is giving service providers and emergency responders’ real-time location information that enables them to offer rapid response, targeted, relevant assistance and better services. A mobile GIS enables field based personnel to capture, store, update, manipulate, analyze, and display geographic information. Fire fighters, police officers, engineering crews, surveyors, utility workers, soldiers, census workers, field biologists, and more use mobile GIS to complete these tasks. This paper will identify the function of Mobile GIS in improving Emergency Management Services and will focus on Wild Fire as a Natural Disaster aspect.
