Reasons of Prosperity Mathnavi patterns in Persian Literature and their Failure in Arabic Literature

The prosperity and value of metrical pattern of Mathnavi (Couplet) in Persian literature is as much as its failure in Arabic literature. In this paper, the author concludes that difference in the two fundamental elements in Persian and Arabic poetry, i.e. Rhythm and Rhyme, provides the reasons of prosperity of Mathnavi pattern in Persian and its failure in Arabic literature, besides, minor elements such as Radif (identical ending syllable) leaves truly impression on this issue. It is to be noted that the paper mostly deals with formal issues of Mathnavi patterns.Since this article is studied in the field of comparative literature, the “comparative method” has been used.
