Adlerian-based Encouragement Training, Self-efficacy and Self-esteem of Female Adolescents Studying the Effectiveness

Abstract:
This study investigates the effect of Adlerian-based encouragement training on the self-efficacy and self-esteem levels of female adolescents. The research design is quasi-experimental (pre-test & post-test with control group). The sample group consists of 20 randomly-selected female students of high school level, from educational district 13 of Tehran. They are selected on the basis of cluster sampling and divided into experimental and control groups randomly (each group involves 10 persons). By employing Sherer et al.’s General Self-efficacy Scale and Coopersmith's Self-esteem Questionnaire, respectively we measured participant's self-efficacy and self-esteem in both pre-tests and post-tests. Ten sessions were devoted to the training of encouragement to the students of experimental group. The covariance analysis shows a significant increase in both self-efficacy and self-esteem levels of the students of experimental group. This means that the Adlerian-based encouragement training can increase the levels of self-efficacy and self-esteem in female adolescents.
