Intercession for the Punishment in the Light of the Qur an and the Two Testaments

The intercession for punishment is one of the common issues of the revealed Books. This has been proposed in Holy Book of the Jews as the influence of a prophet’s will on God’s will, and in Isiah (Chap. 53, No. 12) as ransom; in the New Testament (Gh. Chap. 3, No. 13), it is mentioned as the ransom of Jesus for the original sin committed by Adam. In the Qur’an, however, four attributes i.e. mercifulness, forgiveness (in this life), particular mercy (in the hereafter, and justice, are ascribed to Allah Almighty. Apart from their apparent discrepancies, the above Books’ different phrase of the issue may lead to different consequences.
