Effective Factors on Convergence and Divergence of Political

During several last decades ethnicity, ethnic identity, ethnic conflicts and ethnic migration have risen instability and crisis in many regions across the world. This process has brought about many questions and inspired a large body of theoretical and empirical studies. Same point could be seen in contemporary Iran as a multi-ethnic society, particularly about Kurdish ethnic. This paper explores the determinant factors of political ethnicity among Iranian Kurds who are settled in four provinces of Kurdistan, West Azerbaijan, Ilam and Kermanshah. Theoretical framework was integrated, includes variables of segregation, discrimination and awareness theories. Utilizing survey methodology, the questionnaire is used for data collection. The quantitative sample consists of 800 Kurdish men ranged from 18 – 65 years old. The quantitative results demonstrate that factors such as four Kurdish dialects, kind of religion, using mass media and sense of discrimination have significant correlation with political ethnocentrism in the four mentioned provinces. But, no significant correlation is seen between residential place and political ethnicity. This study suggests that exercising policies such as ethnic justice, reduction of socio-political and economic-cultural inequalities, emphasizing on cultural properties of ethnics through mass media and other strategies will noticeably decrease the pathological consequences of ethnocentrism in Iran.
